Evo Renewables were commissioned to upgrade an existing off-grid power system at a remote site in Mid Wales. With no connection to the national grid, the property relied entirely on a generator supported by an ageing inverter and lead-acid battery storage system. The existing setup was inefficient, required frequent manual intervention, and resulted in high fuel consumption and ongoing operational costs.

Given the remote and rugged location of the site, reliability was essential. Any inefficiencies or system failures would have an immediate impact on the usability of the property. The primary objective was to modernise the system, improve performance, and significantly reduce reliance on generator power through advanced energy storage and intelligent system control.

Evo Renewables designed and installed a fully upgraded off-grid solution built around modern inverter and lithium battery technology. The system incorporates two 5kW inverters alongside 10kWh of lithium-ion battery storage, providing a stable and efficient energy supply for daily usage.

A key feature of the new system is its intelligent generator control. Rather than running continuously, the generator is now automatically triggered only when required, either when battery levels drop below a defined threshold or when energy demand exceeds system capacity. This allows the site to operate autonomously, dramatically improving efficiency and reducing unnecessary generator runtime.

The upgraded system now seamlessly balances energy generation, storage, and demand, ensuring reliable performance while minimising fuel usage, maintenance requirements, and environmental impact.
