Evo Renewables were commissioned to design and install a large-scale 180kW solar PV system on the former Marks & Spencer building in Llandudno. As one of the most significant commercial solar installations in the area, this project formed a key part of the building’s redevelopment and transition towards a more energy-efficient future.

Due to the scale of the system and the complexity of the site’s electrical infrastructure, the project required a highly engineered approach from initial design through to final installation. The building operates with a high-voltage electrical supply supported by an on-site transformer, alongside a backup generator system, creating multiple layers of integration that needed to be carefully managed.

Delivering a system of this size required precise planning to ensure optimal performance while maintaining full compliance with safety standards and grid requirements. The installation also needed to integrate seamlessly with the building’s existing electrical systems, without disruption to the wider infrastructure.

Evo Renewables designed a bespoke solution, installing a 180kW rooftop array configured to maximise available space while ensuring consistent and efficient energy generation. The system is powered by two 90kW SolarEdge Synergy inverters, providing high-performance output alongside advanced monitoring and system control.

Particular attention was given to the integration with the site’s high-voltage infrastructure and backup generator, ensuring safe and compliant operation across all conditions. The result is a robust, scalable system designed to deliver long-term performance in a demanding commercial environment.
